So what's life been like after Rad?
(sure it's been asked) Do you get recognized alot? Was
RAD just another role20for you at the time, or were you into
it? That's all *I got, but moreso I just wanted to say
THANK YOU sincerely man. I wish you nothing but the best.
good sir. Send me an Angel haha =)
Best man -
Rai //
Soon after RAD I founded a band with Lou Diamond Phillips, and my brother
Sherman called The Pipefitters. We toured extensively through out the US and
CANADA. I then moved to NM for several years while continuing to act in film and
TV. Got married 11 years ago soon before I moved back to Los Angeles and
continue acting. --Bill
--------------------------------------------
What kind of bike was you riding in the movie RAD?
--Will
I believe it was a mongoose.
---------------------------------------------
What's your opinion of the following trends and
evolutions in BMX : longer frames, lower/slammed seats, and
the gradual disappearance of chrome-plated everything?
I only recently got a BMX bike after not following the sport for many years so I
don't really have much opinion on what's cool and what isn't these days.
Whatever blows your skirt up, I guess. --Bill
-----------------------------------------------
If someone offered to make you a signature model
frame/bike today, what would it be like and what kind of
parts would you put on it?
I currently ride a Supercross BMX 24" Cruiser and would love to come up with
something along those lines.--Bill
-------------------------------------------------
Did you learn any tricks while filming Rad?
Yes..How to split your head open without a helmet. Seriously ,I nearly killed myself
between takes once, so bite the bullet and wear that goofy helmet.
I trained pretty seriously as a jockey for awhile and found that if you ride,
your gonna fall or you won't get better. But I wasn't on a bike long enough to
do any thing worth bragging about. --Bill
---------------------------------------------------
Do or did you ever ride and follow bmx in real life?
I do ride everyday now and am going to races and trying to promote the sport as
a way to get kids on bikes and out of cars. I was at X games this year and plan
to be at interbike in Vegas this month. --Bill
-----------------------------------------------------
I believe that you are the last sole thing left
in BMX that we all can agree on. Bill you are the man that
everyone thinks is Rad. No one will leave you an anonymous
comment saying you suck. BMX has become so segregated and
divided that I feel we are in need of someone to lead us
back into the prime days of BMX. Were it didn’t matter
what you looked like, what company you liked, what clothes
you wore, whether or not you ended that 180 with an indian
giver. Back when all that mattered was the fact that one and
other shared a passion for BMX. Back when you would see
someone wearing BMX attire and automatically you’d feel a
sense of brotherhood. It’s time that we started over, and
started with the right foot forward. I believe it’s time
to bring love back into BMX, and I believe only one man can
lead us all there. That’s you, Cru. So, my question is,
“Will you be the president of BMX and help unify this BMX
nation?”
I believe that we are in need of change and accept my party's nomination. --Bill

Hello,
I'm 25 years old and I've been riding BMX for about
14 years. I grew up watching RAD when I was younger and
always wondered if anyone in that movie, (other than the
racers) actually rode BMX. Also, I've always wanted two
movies to be distributed on DVD. Those two movies were
Howard the Duck and RAD. Is RAD going to be available on DVD
in the future? Also, What are your thoughts on Christian
Hollings moving to San Francisco and marrying John Stamos?
-James Astoria, NY
Haven't been so flattered since my harmonica playing was compared to Dan
Ackroyd's. HOWARD THE DUCK? Anyway, I'm told an official dvd release will come
later this year and with that, the possibility of RAD II next year.
As far as Lori, I can rest easy knowing that she ended up with an uglier guy. --Bill

Hey Bill!
My name is Mike Hines I have a BMX website/blog and have
been a huge fan of the movie RAD since it came out. I'm
27 and I remember going to the video store with my every
week and making her rent it every time, she finally got so
fed up she bought me the movie. I also had the pleasure of
meeting Bart Conner about ten years ago, but anyway I could
go on forever, here's the questions:
How was ass sliding with Lori Laughlin? Was she fit or
kinda flabby? It's hard to tell in those bad 80's
clothes.
It felt pretty good to me. Yes, she was hot as a match.
How much riding did you actually do in the movie?
As much as I could get away with. But only my stunt man knows for sure.
Do you remember Jose Yanez? (the stunt double who did the
flip in the movie) I've met this guy several times and
he's a little kooky, got any good stories about him or
the other BMX riders at the time?
At the time he was Neil Armstrong because he was the only one who could do a
backflip on a bike. So it was a big deal everytime he did it. He asked for a
moment of silence before he did it while he prayed. So did everyone else.
Most of the other riders were young teenagers and I just remember being amazed
at thier willingness to get hurt for a movie.
Did you watch it in the Xgames or Olympics? If so, what do
you think of the progression of the sport, both racing and
freestyle?
I did see both and was blown out at the olympics, particularly women's racing. I
could not believe thier speed! I think RAD marked BMX's infancy and only see
the sport exploding globally.
Did you think that more than 20 years later people would be
asking you questions about this movie?
The only questions I expected to be asked at this point is,"Are your depends
full yet, Mr Allen?"
Dude, Hell Track, Thoughts?
It was a one off track that made the best in the world nervous. I stood at the
opening gate and nearly lost my lunch. Lotta kids got hurt on that thing. Broken
ankle was the worst I believe. --Bill
-----------------------------------------------------
First question. How does it feel to be CRU FUCKING JONES!!!!!! Second question. Did you get frisky with aunt becky? The world needs to know. -Bobby Parker
I asked him. He thinks it's rad. I found getting frisky with becky very risky. --Bill
----------------------------------------------
What was your involvement with BMX prior to the movie?
The closest I got was holding up a doughnut shop next to a bike shop. --Bill
What did you think of Calgary/Cochrane, Alberta Canada (where the movie was filmed)?
Loved it until I did the scene where we go ass sliding in water so cold I
haven't seen certain body parts since. --Bill
---------------------------------------
Holy Shit this may be the best email I have ever sent!
Q. Did you watch BMX in the Olympics this year?
Yes. I loved it. When will they make watching the olympics an olympic sport?
What’s is gonna take to get my vhs copy of Rad I
bought in 88 signed???? I will listen to Break the Ice on
the way home, it is on my iPod.
You can do it through my website at www.billallenrad.com
--------------------------
How much partying did you do with Lori Loughlin?
I think partying is what made Lori become somewhat disenchanted with me.
Was making out with Lori Loughlin super cool?
It didn't suck.
Was Lori Loughlin really a bitch and hated BMX, or was she
as RAD as C2 the movie?
She was great and super hot.
Would Lori Loughlin be involved with a sequel?
I pray every day she is.
Can there be a awesome sex scene in the sequel with Lori
Loughlin?
I wouldn't say no.
Lori Loughlin is still damn hot, does she talk to ol'
Cru?
We haven't talked in years. Would love to work with her again.
If there is a sequel how can I be in it? I am super rad. :)
By donating to my favorite charity at www.billallenrad.com, we'll see what we
can do. --Bill
------------------------------------
where did the name Cru come from??
I believe Cru was Burt Reynold's character in THE LONGEST YARD, and the writer
liked the name. --Bill

Rad was a great movie for its time. Its awesome that someone thought of it then and its time that someone else makes another movie that could be a comedy about some bmx and skateboarding friends that take a road trip to a contest. like my friends and i did back in the day.Anyone that has, knows what goes on.It would be great to get the guys that did super bad and pineapple express to do the movie

Hi,Bill, pretty cool to see you around BMX again!I have to say thanks and give you a nice anecdote.I am from the Dominican Republic,a small island in the caribbean, and as everywhere in the BMX universe,RAD was big around these parts.Fat FWD to 2000,and in the midst of a Hip-Hop fest we were producing,I met this gorgeous girl from Philly,we kinda hit it off from the start, and went out the weekend after, thing is that we started talking movies, and she told me that her fave flick was a really obscure film about kids on bikes(which she rented until it wore out)to which I replied,"Not Rad,right?"after talking about rad for hours,I took her home and told her I had a surprise for her,and popped my old VHS copy into the VCR,needless to say,she flipped, and suddenly became very passionate(I think that was the last thing she expected to find in the caribbean, besides my fugazi cd's),so thanks for a wonderful evening so many years after RAD!(Luckily I didnt have to go ass sliding for that, lol)
